BOXING CLEVER... Jack Ellender (left) and Will Cawley meet Rhys Roberts.
BOXING: OLDHAM Boxing and Personal Development Centre celebrated a brace of wins at the Ardwick show.
Jack Ellender (35kg) and Will Cawley (35kg) produced excellent performances to enhance their reputations as young boxers to follow.
Cawley was first in the ring, and gradually took control of his bout against awkward southpaw Ellis Costigan.
The Oldhamer initially had trouble adapting to his opponent’s style, but several vicious right hands to the head secured the win.
Ellender was pitched in with Reece Taylor and put together a display which earned plaudits from the audience.
With his slick movement and accurate angled head and body shots, he always had the measure of his rival.
Reigning English Masters lightweight champion Rhys Roberts was at the show, and praised the Oldham duo on their performances.
