Chadderton’s comeback show
Date published: 13 December 2010
CHADDERTON came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory at Irlam in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Chris Palmer put the hosts in front two minutes into the match, but John Edwards levelled matters six minutes later.
Palmer missed a penalty after the break and Chadderton capitalised just before the hour mark.
Edwards’ diagonal ball found top scorer James Curley, who jinked past a defender and drilled home.
Both sides missed chances late on as Paul Buckley’s men claimed the three points.
Buckley said: “After a slow start we managed to get a foothold in the game, and we improved.
“You could tell we hadn’t played for a couple of weeks, but after the equaliser we found a better tempo.
“It was a cracking match with chances at both ends. We enjoyed it.”
OLDHAM Boro’s fixture at home to AFC Blackpool in North-West Counties League Division One and MOSSLEY’S game against Prescot Cables at Seel Park in the Evo-Stik League Division One North were postponed because of frozen pitches.
