HELPING OUT . . . Springbank bowler Jimmy Hynes was one of a number of volunteers who cleared the Chadderton Cot surface of five inches of snow on Saturday morning.
THERE were shocks galore on a weekend of icy action in the Inbev Winter Bowls League at Chadderton Cot.
‘A’ Division title hopefuls Waterloo and Taunton slumped to an 8-3 defeat at the hands of mid-table New Street.
And there was another surprise when Springhead inflicted an identical defeat on third-placed Royle.
The shocks did not stop there, however.
On Sunday, ‘B’ Division leaders Nimble Nook lost 6-5 to Prestwich and their nearest challengers Chadderton Cot slumped to an 8-3 defeat at the hands of Failsworth.
