TABLE TENNIS:
UNISON ‘A’ bounced back from a 7-3 defeat at Hyde ‘B’ to inflict an 8-2 defeat on leaders Werneth ‘A’ in Division Two of the Oldham Table Tennis League.
Junior champion Andrew Tarpey was superb in winning three times and he was well supported by Allan Auxilly and Mike Brierley with two wins each.
Division one champions-elect Glodwick completed an easy 8-2 win at Grotton, but not before the home side's Shaun Ellis wrecked the 100 per cent records of Andy Jackson and Khamal Hussein in recording his two wins.
He did, however lose to Glodwick's third-ranked player, Zillur Rahman, who was unbeaten on the night.
Saddleworth ‘B’ visited second-placed Owls ‘A’ in Division Three and came away with a 7-3 victory. Alex Griffiths was undefeated for Saddleworth.
Leaders St Saviours ‘A’ had a hard fought 6-4 win over Deaf ‘B’ for whom Mike Briggs and Dave Varney won two games each.
Brian Huskinson and Alex Reilly did the same for Saints, and teamed up to win the doubles to secure the team’s victory.
Coldhurst ‘D’ beat Our Lady's ‘B’ in Division Four, Wayne Carter continuing his fine form by winning his three singles.
