ATHLETICS: ADAM Howard claimed the Red Rose League under-15s individual title for the second year on the trot after coming first in the 3.9k race in Blackburn.
The jet-heeled Oldham and Royton Harriers runner posted a time of 15 minutes, 20 seconds.
Fellow Harrier Matthew Shaugnessy was second, helping the under-15s win the team title.
Club-mate Chris Brown finished third in the under-13s 2.9k run, in 10.59, which was enough to bag his first individual title.
Adam’s win comes just a month after he clinched the Year 10 and 11 honours at the Oldham Schools’ Cross Country Championships, representing Waterhead Academy.
Mum Louise said: “The weather was bad at first, with plenty of snow coming down, and the races were postponed for around 20 minutes.
“But the sun came out and all the races went ahead without any problems.
“Adam had been ill for most of the week and still wasn’t feeling 100-per-cent, but he was happy to end the year with a win.”
