Schedule is wiped out

FOOTBALL: THE local amateur football scene has once again been hit by the winter white-out.
No action was possible in the D & J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League or the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League.
The same applied to the Lancashire Amateur, Lancashire and Cheshire, and Huddersfield and District Leagues.
Weather permitting, they will all be back on the weekend of January 8 and 9.
The Manchester League left it until the day before their last scheduled round of fixtures to call them off.
League secretary Phil Platt said: “The weather beat us again. The forecast was poor, with more snow, frost and low temperatures.
“I spoke again to my fellow committee members, and it was with reluctance that we postponed all games played on grass pitches.
“The same conditions relating to the use of 3G surfaces applied.
“I fully appreciate the lateness of this decision. I wanted to give the weather every chance of improving, but it was a forlorn hope.”
