RUGBY LEAGUE:
FINGERS crossed, local rugby league makes its comeback on Saturday with a full programme of fixtures.
On the down side, only one of the borough’s teams are at home, with Hollinwood playing host to Keighley Town ‘A’ in the Pennine League’s Supplementary Cup competition.
Players, officials and fans have endured several frustrating weeks.
Firstly, snow and ice wiped out virtually all the matches in early and mid part of December, and then the leagues shut down for the Christmas and New Year.
But, weather permitting, it’s all systems go again this weekend.
In the National Conference League Premier Division, Saddleworth Rangers visit Siddal, Oldham St Anne’s go to Ince Rose Bridge in Division One and Waterhead make the trip to Elland for a Division Two fixture.
The North-West Counties League also returns to action, with Higginshaw facing an away-day test at Hindpool in Division Three, while Fitton Hill hit the road to Leigh East in Division Six.
