DARTS: ICE-COOL Geoff Tucker clinched a 6-4 win for Oldham over Bury in the Lancashire GMC Elite Super Eights League at the Flower Pot.
Tucker, with an average of 69.39 for every three darts thrown, won the final game of the afternoon 4-3 to deny their opponents a share of the spoils.
Captain Stuart Holden led by example for Oldham, levelling up the match at 1-1 with an impressive 4-1 win.
The league’s player-of-the-month for December, he averaged 93.39 and recorded a 13-dart leg, which included two 140s and a 130.
Lee Williams (78.89) and Pete Connolly (72.61), with 4-2 and 4-1 victories respectively, gave Oldham a 3-1 advantage.
Bury recovered to level the match, but 4-3 and 4-0 wins from Gary Jackson (76.80) and Mick Kenway (70.07) put Oldham back in front.
However, the visitors refused to lie down and victory in match nine left the hosts relying on Tucker. He did not disappoint.
Oldham, who are up to fourth in the table, are away to Little Hulton on Sunday.
