NETBALL:
OLDHAM under-14s hit the ground running in the North-West Regional competition with a convincing 69-28 defeat of Capricorn.
After dominating every area of the court, Oldham were able to build up a sizeable lead, and by the half-way stage they had scored 32 points to the visitors’ eight.
Such an advantage allowed Oldham to rotate the squad in the final two quarters.
The points continued to pile up. Grace Kumeta, who came on at half-time at goal attack, boasted a 100-per-cent shot completion in the final two quarters and was ably assisted by player-of-the-match, goal shooter Natalie Hulme.
Rapid start sets up success
AN EMPHATIC 78-19 win over Capricorn at Hathershaw Sports College was the perfect start for Oldham under-16s in the North-West Regional campaign.
Boasting a 23-3 lead after the first of four 15-minute spells, the home side kept up the fast pace to totally outclass the Merseyside title holders.
There was no let up from Oldham in the second quarter — the score was 44-8 at half-time — and by the end of the match they had converted 78 of their 88 attempts.
