England duty calls for duo

OLDHAM Netball Club players Jade Clarke and Sara Bayman will represent England in a three-match Test series against New Zealand, starting on Saturday at the Manchester Indoor Arena (5pm) .

The second Test is on Monday at the Trent FM Arena, Nottingham (7pm, call 08444 124 624 for ticket information), with the third match in the series on Wednesday at the O2 Arena, London (7pm, for tickets details call 0844 856 0202).
Roses defeat
OLDHAM’S young side started brightly against Leeds Carnegie in the Northern League, but the White Rose outfit bounced back to claim the spoils 48-33.
Spearheaded by captain Suzy Chapman, the local outfit gave as good as they got in the early exchanges.
Goal shooter Shannon Westwood scored from all seven of her attempts, but errors left Oldham trailing 13-11 at the first break.
Some impressive defending from Gemma McDermott, Amber Hazelton, and Becky Smith in the second quarter led to seven interceptions, but Oldham only managed to convert one of these into a goal.
Although the shot count dropped dramatically, with Oldham scoring only seven out of 14 attempts, they trailed by just two points (20-18) at half-time.
but Leeds took hold of the game in the third and fourth quarters, with Oldham failing to convert any of their nine turnovers.
