ROBERT Quinlan's clinical hat-trick powered Royton FC into the second round of the D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League Challenge Cup after victory over Division Three side Crompton Victoria at Newbarn playing fields.
Quinlan struck twice shortly before half-time and then again in the closing stages to seal the victory for Jack Abbott Premier Division outfit Royton.
But all credit to Crompton, who pulled themselves level with a well-worked Lee Taylor goal on the half-hour mark after Craig Ginnever had given Royton an early lead.
Adam Keeley was by far the star man for Crompton with his display between the sticks and, while he was something of a hero, the same could not be said in one particular instance for his Royton counterpart David Williams.
Christian Fraser got the other Royton goal after 75 minutes, just before Williams' penalty miss.
The real winner was the fact that football in the Oldham Sunday League resumed at long last.
