£40,000 boost for Chadderton
Date published: 14 January 2011
FOOTBALL: THE New Year is off to a perfect start for Chadderton FC, after the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One outfit received a £40,000 windfall.
A makeover by FA Cup sponsors and energy suppliers E-On will transform facilities at the ground on Broadway.
And when the work is complete, a yet-to-be identified ‘football legend’ will visit the club — accompanied by the FA Cup.
Club secretary Louise Robson said: “One of our junior team managers saw a competition on the FA website, and entered the club for it.
“We got the call to say we had won an energy efficiency makeover.
“The work will include thermostatic controls, new light switches, new showers in the changing rooms, a new boiler, solar panels — although I don’t know how much use we’ll make of those in Chadderton.
“The work will take about two weeks.
“We have been told that once the work has been completed, there will be a grand opening, when the FA Cup will be brought up to the ground and will be accompanied by a ‘football legend’.”
