St Paul’s forced to dig deep

SNOOKER: NICK Broadbent’s break of 39 helped St Paul’s get off to the perfect start in the Pet Au Purrs Oldham Amateur Snooker League against Oldham Boro — but his side did not have it all their way in a 4-2 success.
Andy Pickup then replied with a 38 in the second frame to level things up.
Glenn Shaw then added the third frame for Boro, but St Paul’s hit back with wins by Chris Harvey and Shaun McQuillan for a hard-fought victory. Moss ‘A’ whitewashed Blue Club ‘A’ 6-0 to move into a share of second place with CBC and High Crompton.
AFTER the first round of matches following the extended winter break, Dobcross still hold a three-point advantage over Mossley in the Saddleworth Snooker League.
The title rivals registered emphatic 5-1 wins over Yorkshire Ward 2 and Austerlands respectively to stay clear at the top of the table.
Greenfield lead the way in the Crib League, while reigning champions in the darts section, Mossley, boast a seven-point advantage from Austerlands 2.
