ANGLING: CRAIG Bradford hit the target in a Monarch AC open match on the club water.
Fourth in the belated fur and feather contest, he went three places better thanks to the pole and pinkie combination full depth at 13 metres.
Bradford tempted chub to 2lb, carp to 9lb and plenty of silver fish to weigh in a massive 34lb 7oz.
Fur and feather winner Dave White was relegated to the runners-up spot, with his 10-metre pole and maggot tactics netting 12lb 14oz of chub to 2lb.
Pete Bloor, in third, weighed in 8lb, which comprised of a 7lb carp and a few roach on pole and maggot.
White’s victory in the belated Monarch fur and feather match on the club water was achieved using maggot at 11 metres for 4lb 4oz of chub and roach in the eight-ounce region.
Pete Finney, the runner-up, fished an almost identical match to White but just missed out for top honours with a 4lb 3oz net, also made up of chub and roach.
Third-best was Malc Kershaw, with the maggot feeder accounting for 3lb 6oz of silvers.
PAUL Cryer had plenty to shout about after winning the Todmorden AS open match on the Smithybridge to lorry park section of the Rochdale Canal.
He recorded a superb 15lb 9oz net of roach on the pole and bread punch.
Roger Priestley continued his good form with a fine second place, courtesy of a 10lb 11oz all-roach net on bread punch.
Oldham’s Derek Bowers was third with 8lb 12oz made up of two bream and some roach
Venue Guide
Park Lake: Bronze maggot or bread punch for bites of small chub and silvers. Day tickets on the bank.
Huddersfield Narrow Canal: Slaithwaite match won with very little but, on the right peg, good fish still available. Be patient on the Saddleworth and District Angling Society (SADAS) waters and choose peg wisely.
Rochdale Canal: Some cracking sport, with a careful choice of peg could net double figures. Castleton lengths for silvers on bread punch. Match at Smithybridge won with double figures of roach on bread punch.
Chadderton Mill Lodge: Still good for a few fish. Maggot as good as anything.
