CRICKET: THE draw for the 2011 Wood Cup competition has not been kind to our local clubs.
Three of the four have been drawn away from home in the first round on Sunday, May 22, Werneth and Crompton facing particularly strong opposition.
Werneth travel to Heywood, while Crompton must go to Littleborough.
Royton and new skipper Alan Durose face a tricky tie at Radcliffe, but Oldham will be confident of making progress after being pitched against Ashton at home.
The rest of the first-round draw is:
Norden v Unsworth; Monton and Weaste v Clifton; Rochdale v Middleton; Milnrow v Walsden.
Second round (Sunday, June 19): Monton and Weaste/Clifton v Littleborough/Crompton; Heywood/Werneth v Rochdale/Middleton; Oldham/Ashton v Milnrow/Walsden; Radcliffe/Royton v Norden/Unsworth.
Semi-finals (Sunday, July 3): Heywood etc v Monton etc; Radcliffe etc v Oldham etc.
The final will be played at Monton and Weaste CC on Sunday, August 7.
