AMATEUR FOOTBALL:
AVRO continued their push for the title in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division with a 6-1 win over Atherton Town.
Phil Brown’s men are now four points clear of second-placed Manchester Gregorians, and still have a game in hand on their nearest title rivals.
However, it was bad news for basement boys Hollinwood, who went down to a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Stockport Georgians.
Fred Hardicre’s side remain five points adrift at the bottom of the table.
FROZEN pitches put paid to virtually the entire Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League schedule at the weekend.
ABBIE Andrews scored a hat-trick as Heyside Angels under-16s defeated Uppermill 6-2 in the North Manchester Girls’ League.
Also on the mark were Elysia Broome, Shannon Ryan and Beth Giblin.
Kelly Ward struck twice for the under-15s Angels Clarets in their 2-2 draw with Denton Girls.
In the same age group, the Angels Blues swept aside Rochdale 10-1 courtesy of five goals from Leoni Harland, an Alix Sephton treble, and further goals from Amelia Garlick and Sophie Montgomery.
