Promotion setback

RUGBY: HOLLINWOOD’S push for promotion from Division Five of the Pennine League suffered a setback as they went down 36-10 at mid-table Burley Lions.
It was a bruising affair and several players will require treatment before Saturday’s journey to Wibsey Warriors ‘A’.
The home side dominated the first 40 minutes, scoring 22 points, while Hollinwood, without captain John Byram at loose forward, replied with a Mark Dixon try, converted by Andy Gorey.
Chris Collins crossed for a second Hollinwood touchdown in the second half, but an error-strewn period, which featured several missed tackles, allowed Lions to add another 14 points to their tally.
Hollinwood were poor. They played like a team of strangers, with little method and hardly any support play.
Dixon was named man-of-the-match, Phil Baxter ran hard, while Mike Richmond, Peter Dobson and Gareth Baines put in some big hits.
