Authors move past 100 mark

AMATEUR FOTBALL: THE trio of football fanatics writing a book about former players from Oldham’s various leagues have spoken to more than 100 stalwarts.
David Ball, David Giblin and Tony Steel hope to release For The Love of the Game, Oldham’s Unsung Heroes (Or As Good as the Pros But Paid a Bit Less), by Easter.
The original plan was to interview 100 ex-players, but they have already caught up with 115, with four more left on the list.
Ball said: “The best thing about this process, which is finally nearing the end, has been the response from some of the older people we have included.
“They have all had so much to offer.”
The authors are still on the lookout for more sponsorship to help cover the cost of printing, so that the revenue from sales can all go into charity.
Anyone interested in helping them out can call Ball on (0161) 345 0753, or Steel on (0161) 6246976 or (0161) 652 2499.
