Chance to join academy

AMATEUR FOOTBALL: AFC OLDHAM are running a football academy on the astroturf at Greenhill School on Monday nights.

The club are aiming to attract new boys and girls to join.

Youngsters aged between four and seven are welcome to attend. The sessions run from 6pm to 7pm.

They cost £1.50 a week after the first visit, which is free.

FA Level One coaches Sean Kelly and Helen Cullen, who are also club welfare officers, run the academy.

The club are also on the lookout for coaches for sessions that are linked to local schools.

And AFC Oldham are keen to recruit trainers for their under-eights and under-nines teams, before the 2011-2012 campaign gets underway.

If you are interested in getting involved in any of the above, call Sean on 07742 775117 or Helen on 07970 781450 for more information.

THE local amateur football schedule was virtually wiped out at the weekend due to waterlogged playing surfaces.
In the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Division Two, Hollinwood reserves drew 2-2 with Prestwich Heys reserves 2.

No action was possible in the D & J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League.

CHADDERTONIANS ‘A’ hit back from two goals down to beat Castle Hill reserves 3-2 in the Lancashire Amateur League Division Three.
Dean McAuley pounced twice for Chadds, and Adam Dickinson also netted.
