Vital points up for grabs

AMATEUR RUGBY: AFTER snow and ice wiped out fixtures in December, it was rain which decimated last weekend’s National Conference League programme.
Local club officials are now hoping for a break in the weather.
Third from bottom in the Premier Division, Saddleworth Rangers are in desperate need of a pick-me-up tomorrow.
And Keith Brennan’s team face a crucial game in their battle to beat the drop — a trip to Wigan St Patricks, who directly above them in the table.
Just one point separates the two sides, although the hosts have played a game more.
In Division One, Oldham St Anne’s are also gearing up for vital game tomorrow as they bid to reach mid-table security.
Saints, in ninth, welcome Millom, who are one place above them, but both are too close to the relegation zone for comfort.
And Waterhead are involved in a bottom-of-the-table meeting in Division Two.
Victory against Heworth, who are one point and two places above Garry Highton’s boys, would lift Waterhead over tomorrow’s visitors to Peach Road.
