Perfect 10 for Saints

AMATEUR RUGBY:
OLDHAM St Anne’s ran in 10 tries to end an unwanted four-game losing sequence in style in Division One of the National Conference League.
And the emphatic 54-16 demolition job on Millon was the Higginshaw Road outfit’s biggest win of the season so far.
Scrum-half Jordan White scored two early tries, the first after good work from hooker Eric Johnson, to put Saints in the ascendancy. Darren Fletcher added one goal for a 10-0 lead.
But Millom hit back with scores from winger Chris Warren and Ricky Donoghue in opposite corners and, with both efforts goaled by Matthew Palmer, the visitors nosed ahead.
However, Saints took command in a 10-minute spell before the break when tries from Danny Kay, Connor Karren and Andy Sands — Fletcher sent over a couple of goals — saw them surge into 26-12 lead.
It was all Saints in the second half, thanks to powerful displays from David Cookson, Chris Carter, Johnson and White.
Johnson sold a dummy to scoot in under the posts for a Fletcher-goaled try, while White put in a perfect chip to the corner for Sean Thomas to touch down
Millom registered a third try, courtesy of Joe Moyes, but Sands and Kay claimed their second efforts and White completed his hat-trick, with Fletcher providing the extras to finish with seven goals
