NETBALL: OLDHAM ran out 51-36 winners in their Premier League Division One clash with Leyton at Walthamstow.

The team stalled at the start to find themselves 6-1 down, but recovered well and good attacking play from Jade Clarke and Rachel Henry to find shooters Alexa Collier and Kathryn Turner meant oldham finished the first quarter 14-9 up.

A young visitors' side, helped by the introduction of captain Kerry Almond, took the second quarter 11-9.

Some strong defence from player-of-the-match Jodie Gibson — who made five turnovers in the last quarter — kept the East London side at bay.

Tann shines for Oldham
MEGAN Tann was the late hero as Oldham's Northern League squad pinched a 37-36 victory over local rivals Tameside.

Goal keeper Tann made a pair of fantastic late interceptions to keep Oldham's noses in front as their shot count dropped dramatically, allowing Tameside a sniff of victory in the closing stages.

Captain Sarah Brennan led the team to a 12-8 first-quarter lead and some excellent centre circle play from Leanne Murphy helped Oldham increase that lead to 22-15 at half-time.

Good defending from Becky Gregory and Gemma McDermott at goal defence sustained a seven-goal cushion at 32-25 at the end of the third quarter.

And in the last, Tameside's comeback was quelled by Tann.

Under-14s maintain immaculate record
OLDHAM'S under-14s maintained their 100 per cent start in the National Club Championships by defeating Didsbury 57-30 away from home.

The pace and speed that the Oldham team played with was too much for their opponents to handle and every quarter was won comfortably.

Coach Jackie Reid had the luxury of swapping players around after half-time to try out attacking and defensive combinations.

Oldham's next game in this competition is at home to Leyland on Sunday, March 6.
