Micklehurst heading back to Saddleworth League
Date published: 24 February 2011
CRICKET: MICKLEHURST CC are all set to rejoin the Saddleworth and District Cricket League in 2012.
The SDCL executive committee recommended that the Castle Lane outfit, who quit to play over the tops six years ago, should return next season and the other 13 member clubs were in agreement at the February meeting.
Member clubs were told that Micklehurst’s ground and finances were in order.
Facilities now include an extension to the dressing room, which features a balcony, umpires’ changing area next to the scorebox and easier access for wheelchairs, all work carried out since their move to the Drakes Huddersfield League.
The SDCL said they had received a letter from the Huddersfield League confirming the club’s request for a release.
With the application given the green light, Micklehurst can now go ahead and resign at their present competition’s April meeting in order to switch back to the other side of the Pennines in 2012.
Micklehurst have already got one foot in the SDCL as their under-13, 15, and 17 teams will play in this season’s junior competition.
