NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY manager Shaun Higgins has decided to hand Chris Hall a place in his starting 11 tonight when the Lilywhites host Prescot Cables in the Evo-Stik League Division One North (7.45pm kick-off).

Higgins wants to freshen up his team after seeing them slump to a second successive home defeat at the weekend, when they lost 2-1 to Cammell Laird.

He said: “We have a fully fit squad but one or two players are going to be disappointed.

“Chris Hall will definitely start and other changes are likely.

“The one good thing for a team struggling for form is that matches in this division are so frequent.

“We now have another chance to put things right.”

PAUL Brown will again be missing from the Oldham Boro squad tonight for their trip to Leek CSOB in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One (7.45pm).
The striker has work commitments, and will be absent from Tony Mills’ line-up for the third successive game.

Brown was due to feature against Atherton Collieries at the weekend, but the match was postponed due to a waterlogged playing surface.

Meanwhile, Dave Shepherd has quit as secretary of Boro, ending a 17-year association with the club.

Shepherd, who joined the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One outfit as a physio in 1994, said a difference of opinion with his former colleagues led to his exit.

He added: “I have left Oldham Boro due to club politics.

“I was not happy and it was best for me to go.”

Bardsley resident Shepherd is keen to return to football in some capacity next season.

“I love the sport and I have plenty of contacts at other clubs,” he said.

“I am going to watch a few matches between now and the end of the

season, and assess my options in the summer.”

Boro chairman Mark Kilgannon said: “Dave is a massive loss for us, as he served the club for 17 years.

“They are big shoes to fill. We wish Dave all the best for the future.”
