It’s good to talk — Cashin

RUGBY LEAGUE: OLDHAM St Anne’s coach Mick Cashin is looking for an instant reaction from his
players in tomorrow’s National Conference League Division One match at home to Myton Warriors.
Saints went down to a surprise 40-30 defeat against second-bottom Eccles six days ago, a performance described by Cashin as their “worst of the season”.
They were guilty of gifting possession to the opposition too easily and panicking at times as they slipped to a second loss at Higginshaw Road in the league this season.
However, Cashin is certain his side can bounce straight back after a positive chat with his players at training this week.
He said: “We lost our discipline and gave away silly penalties — you could say we orchestrated our own downfall.
“We did play decent stuff in patches, but we weren’t able to build enough pressure.
“Hats off to the players, though, they have responded in the right manner at training and are keen to put things right.”
Saints will be without centre Dave Harris (work commitments) and prop Andy Sands (foot injury) for the clash, but full-back Darren Fletcher and prop Anthony Platt are available.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers, who were left kicking their heels after their National Cup tie against Siddal was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch last Saturday, are at home to Wath Brow Hornets tomorrow.
And, with the weather staying dry this week, no problems are envisaged at Shaw Hall Bank Road.
GARRY Highton’s Waterhead are on a roll in Division Two.
A run of three wins from their last four games has lifted the Peach Road boys out
of the bottom two re-election places.
With confidence high, Waterhead will fancy their chances at mid-table Shaw Cross Sharks tomorrow
