RUGBY LEAGUE: WATERHEAD were soundly beaten 54-10 at Ovenden in Division Two, ending a run of three straight victories and plunging the Peach Road side back into re-election trouble.
"We were outgunned and outplayed in every department," said coach Garry Highton.
"We have no qualms about the score and it could have been even worse for us.
“We didn't get off the bus and were handed a lesson in rugby league."
The game, refereed by a trio of Sarah Bennison and touch judges Kara Clegg and Sue Gunnett, opened up with the Halifax outfit scoring freely.
Liam Walsh grabbed the opening try after only five minutes, Luke Sandland adding a goal, with Chris Geoghan (two), Sandland and Matthew Collins all contributing to a 28-4 half-time lead.
Sean Garrett provided Waterhead's sole response.
The second half continued in the same vein as Ovenden carried on dominating.
Geoghan completed a superb hat-trick and Collins claimed a second try, while Sean Smith landed a late double.
Sandland ended up with seven goals in total, while Terry Fitzgerald's try and conversion provided little consolation.
Waterhead are now only two points clear of second-bottom West Bowling in the re-election zone, who have two games in hand and won 32-10 at home against Elland on Saturday.
