Angling: IN-FORM Chadderton ace John Jones clinched yet another win at his favourite Brookside Fisheries venue.

The Garbolino Elton rod was drawn on Snake Lake peg 17, where he bagged a brilliant 75lb 4oz of mostly carp, but also a few decent-sized ide on soft pellet across.

John Vernon, of Gilders, is also enjoying a good season, and he had an almost identical catch of 60lb.

Lee Addy was third-best with 55lb 10oz of mostly carp on pellet.

CROFT Fishery was in reasonable form for the latest Todmorden AS match, which featured a field of 20.
The winner, Steve Buckley, recorded 16lb 4oz of carp, lured mostly by meat on the feeder.

Second-placed John Mellor included two carp and a solitary chub on the pole and maggot in his 9lb 8oz net.

Chris Lett, in third, used the pole and meat to tempt three carp for 8lb 4oz, and he was followed by Steve Hall’s single carp effort of 6lb 1oz.

Anglers have the choice of two Todmorden AS open matches on Sunday. See Diary Dates (above, right) for details.

Meanwhile, Todmorden AS junior coaching days are on May 7 and 21, followed by June 2 and 16. The first session is at Ramsdenwood.

Junior matches start on May 20, with subscriptions at just £5.

SADDLEWORTH and District Angling Society waters are picking up nicely.
One angler netted a few chub and bream on the bottom length of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal just along from the arches at Uppermill.

A superb 22lb 12oz common carp was caught on Ogden Reservoir. It was enticed by two pieces of sweetcorn in conjunction with a method feeder.

Plenty of roach are being caught, with maggot fished on the pole and waggler the best method.

The area behind the cottages is in good form.

Tickets for Ogden Reservoir are £5 on the bank and £4 at Tight Lines Shaw.

CATCHES were again superb in the penultimate Chadderton Mill AC Winter League match on the club water, with the lowest weight an incredible 15lb.
Top-spot went to John Pearson (Stalybridge AC), who used banded pellet in conjunction with the pole for nine good carp in a 63lb bag.

Graham Mitchell (GTI Gilders) had a great weekend.

After watching his son Andrew get married on Saturday, he was on the bank 24 hours later claiming second place.

Mitchell had an all-ide net on the pole and maggot, fished at a depth of four feet and 10 metres across for 51lb 3oz.

Jim Evans, in third place, opted for an almost identical approach, which pulled in two carp and the rest ide for a level 51lb catch.

With just one round to go, Graham Mitchell is leading with 21 points, followed by Aiden Bordiak (23pts) and Mick Tighe (38pts).
