Crowning glory for Dobcross

SNOOKER:
DOBCROSS clinched top honours in the 2010-11 Saddleworth Snooker League despite losing 4-2 against Austerlands 2, who were inspired by G Wheeler on the final day of the season.
Mossley, who could have pipped Dobcross to the title, crashed 6-0 at Yorkshire Ward 1, for whom P Durrans and C Edwards impressed.
Yorkshire Ward 2 claimed the Crib League, while Mossley ran away with the Darts League crown.
The 2011-12 season gets under way on September 12.
Broadbent siblings hit right note for St Paul’s
THE Broadbent brothers, Nick and Phil, were on song for St Paul’s in the Pet Au Purrs Oldham Amateur Snooker League.
St Paul’s took the first frame against Chadderton Reform, only for N Price to level things up for the hosts.
But a break of 32 from Nick Broadbent clinched frame three, before older brother Phil knocked in a 38 break to put his side 3-1 ahead.
L Slater stopped the rot in last frame, but St Paul’s still claimed a 4-2 win.
Narrow lead for Moss Inn
MOSS Inn hold a slender one-point advantage in the Saw-Tech Snooker League but Cartshaft, close up in third place, boast a game in hand.
Academy humbled
LEADERS Oldham Snooker Academy ‘A’ suffered a setback to their Manchester League Division One title hopes when they went down 5-2 at Hazel Grove Cons.
Danny Gleeson and Martin McGuiness were successful for Oldham.
But Academy ‘B’, thanks to a final frame victory from Shuja Riaz, clinched a 5-2 victory over Belle Vue ‘B’.
Also on the mark were Abu Miah and Tanveer Hussain.
In Division Two, Academy ‘C’ extended their lead at the top of the table after also enjoying a 5-2 win at home to Crucible ‘B’.
MT Ahmed, Imran Jamiel and Nadeem Hussain were Oldham’s frame-winners.
