Jacombs is goal hero

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: JOE Jacombs scored the only goal of the game as Chadderton edged out AFC Liverpool 1-0 in the Vodkat North-West Counties League.
Jacombs struck after 19 minutes to give Paul Buckley’s promotion-chasing side three points.
Top scorer James Curley beat four men before picking out Jacombs, who made no mistake from close range.
Buckley said: “It was a great result but we made life hard for ourselves.
“Had we put away our chances, it wouldn’t have been so nervy at the end.”
OLDHAM Boro went down to a 2-1 defeat at Norton United in the NWCL Division One.
Scott Dundass broke the deadlock after 55 minutes to put the home side in front. Brandon Parker levelled matters for Tony Mills’ men with 12 minutes remaining.
But Wayne Brotherton dashed hopes of a creditable point when he notched the winner seven minutes from the end.
MOSSLEY’S winless run stretched to nine matches after they lost 3-2 at Durham City in the Evo-Stik League Division One North.
Stephen Thompson put the hosts in front with a 12th-minute penalty. Chris Rowney replied with an equaliser just before the break.
A frantic finish saw three goals scored in the last five minutes of the contest.
David Dowson restored Durham’s lead, before substitute Jack Pounder gave them a two-goal cushion.
Kristian Dennis pulled one back for the Lilywhites, but Shaun Higgins’ men were unable to find an equaliser.
