BOWLS: SPRINGBANK bowed out of the BCGBA World Club Championship at the second-round stage.
After beating Cumbrian outfit Holme at Irlam Steel, the Chadderton team lost to defending champions St Joseph’s.
The Chorley-based North Lancs and Fylde Association outfit have now gone seven games without defeat in the event.
Springbank were always in command against Holme, Alan Hodson and Jimmy Hynes winning 21-7 and Mark Garbett (21-13), Wilf McDermott (21-12), Alan Bidwell (21-12) and skipper Martin Hodson (21-19) also coming out on top in a 157-112 victory.
But St Joseph’s were simply too strong in round two and Springbank’s only winners were Alan Hodson (21-14) and Garbett (21-15) as the Saints won 155-106.
