SNOOKER: WINS from Ian and Craig Atherton were in vain as high-flying Oldham Snooker Academy ‘A’ suffered a surprise 5-2 defeat at home to Denton Crucible.
With two games to go, they have been replaced by Oldham Academy ‘B’ at the top of the table.
Shuja Riaz, Abu Miah, Dr Majid Ali and Kamran Saeed were the successful quartet in a 6-1 victory at Crucible ‘A’.
Oldham Academy ‘C’ need to win one frame in their last match of the season against nearest rivals Great Moor Cons to clinch top honours in Division Two.
They missed the chance to take the title in the penultimate round of matches.
Away to Reddish Cons ‘B’, Oldham Academy succumbed 6-1. Naveed Mohammed claimed the consolation frame in the heavy defeat.
