Classy end to season

Angling: A CRACKING final match in the Chadderton Mill AC winter series on the club water saw the top three putting more than 50lb on the scales.
Winner and league champion Graham Mitchell (GTI Gilders) weighed in with 66lb 8oz of three carp and ide.
Dave Ashworth (Gilders) followed up with 60lb 12oz, comprising of some big carp and plenty of ide, while club-mate Paul Hill came third with 54lb 8oz, which included five good carp.
Mitchell topped the table with 42 points, ahead of Aiden Bordiak (Tight Lines) on 38 and Jim Evans and Darren Webb, who both accumulated 36 points.
TODMORDEN’S club trophy contest on Townhouse was won by Dave Balmforth, whose five carp went some way towards his 12lb 8oz net.
Simon Newsham’s 12lb carp duo and small fish was enough to earn second spot, while third-placed John Mellor found four carp and finished with 10lb 10oz.
The club also ran an open match on Rochdale Canal, which Simon Walton won courtesy of 10lb of quality roach.
Runner-up Dave Chadwick caught a tench and big roach, which weighed 7lb 14oz, closely followed by Derek Greenwood’s 7lb 1oz of roach taken on bread punch.
PETE Cuniffe (Gilders) is one of the elder statesmen of Oldham match-fishing, but he proved you cannot beat experience when came first in the Blundells Fishery open match.
He finished with a 58lb 3oz haul of carp.
Trevor Jackson took second place thanks to a 55lb 12oz net, which included carp taken on pole.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal – Slaithwaite waters for bream, chub, roach and carp. Bread punch, caster and pellet the best baits.
Rochdale Canal – All lengths for good nets of roach and skimmers. Tench now starting to show.
Chadderton Mill Lodge – Maggot and pellet for ide and carp fished either up or down in the water.
