GOLF: HARRY Marshall will be a proud golfer and father at Stamford Golf Club this year.

A Stamford member for 30 years, Harry (66) will captain the men, while daughter Joanne (44) will lead the women’s section of the club for the second time.

As a wedding present 10 years ago, Harry bought membership for Joanne and her husband, Chris. Now they are both keen golfers.

And Harry admitted: "She has done very well, she's better than me!

"It's a tough course for the women, so to have the lowest handicap at the club is a fantastic achievement."

Joanne plays off a mark of 11 and Harry 17.

But along with Chris, they are not the only members of the family at Stamford.

Harry's grandson Callum (13) has been a member for two years and is showing great potential.

A retired managing director of an engineering firm, Harry is married to Doreen, and they have five children.

Harry’s son, David, has type-one diabetes so he hopes to raise money for Diabetes UK during his captaincy.

The women’s section, led by Joanne, has already raised over £600 for the charity thanks to a coffee morning at the club.
