PLEASED TO MEET YOU... Alex with Rebecca Adlington.
SWIMMING: ALEX Crossland-Robins produced some Merseyside magic to claim two medals.
Representing Oldham’s advanced training squad, the 10-year-old came away from the first part of the British Gas Lancashire County Championships in Liverpool with gold and silver.
The second leg is hosted by Manchester Aquatics this weekend when Alex, who recently met Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington, will compete in seven races.
Dad Dave said: “Alex picked up gold in the 200 metres butterfly — it was an outstanding swim.
“It will rank him top in the North-West and in the UK top five in his age group.”
Alex’s silver medal came courtesy of his efforts in 200m backstroke.
The youngster clocked two minutes 55 seconds in the butterfly and 2:50.39 in the backstroke.
“He is looking forward to the Manchester stage,” added Dave.
“It is a relief that it is on the doorstep, because Alex has been training so hard. The travelling can sometimes be an inconvenience.”
