Rangers look to keep up top-six quest

AMATEUR RUGBY LEAGUE:

SADDLEWORTH Rangers continue their push for the National Conference League Premier Division play-offs with a trip to York Acorn tomorrow.

Keith Brennan's side are three points adrift of the top six and, with just four games of the regular season remaining, can't afford to let their foot of the gas.

Rangers kept up the pressure on the teams above them with a Mick Coates inspired 34-22 victory over West Hull last weekend. Second-from-bottom York, meanwhile, slipped to a 28-16 defeat at East Hull on the same afternoon and lost 36-8 at home to Siddal on Tuesday night.

OLDHAM St Anne's eased their relegation worries with a much-needed 36-20 win over lowly Stanningley six days ago.

That victory would have done Mick Cashin's men a world of good for the visit of high-flying Oulton Raiders tomorrow.

Unbeaten in the league so far this term — they have won 14 and drawn two of their 16 games — Raiders are on course to finish as champions.

IN contrast, Waterhead are on a recovery mission at promotion hopefuls Castleford Lock Lane in Division Two tomorrow.

A 38-4 mauling by West Bowling last Saturday left the Peach Road side in the bottom three, and they require a strong end to the campaign to avoid one of the re-election places.
