MICKLEHURST CC have appointed Jonny Forrester as their new captain, three years after he left the club for Holmfirth.
Medium-fast bowler Forrester takes over from Paul Barrow, whohas joined Stayley in the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District League.
The Castle Lane outfit are gearing up for their farewell season in the Drakes Huddersfield League, after getting the green light to rejoin the Saddleworth League in 2012.
And chairman Steve Delvin is determined to see Micklehurst produce a memorable swansong.
He said: “We want to go out with a bang.
“The aim is to win some silverware and move on from last season (in which they were relegated from the Frank Platt Championship).
“We got stuck in a rut in the second half of the campaign. Now there is an opportunity to make a fresh start.
“Jonny has come in as captain and is looking forward to the challenge.
“He is a Micklehurst lad and during his time at Holmfirth, he still maintained an interest in how we were doing.”
Micklehurst, who are away to Hoylandswaine in Frank Platt Championship Two on Saturday, are still looking for fresh faces, although they have opted against bringing in a professional.
Delvin added: “The money just is not available to bring in a pro at this point, so there will not be one at the club this season.
“We are still considering our options with regards to new players, but at the moment there is nothing concrete.”
Micklehurst warmed up for the new campaign with a friendly victory over Saddleworth, making 280 before dismissing their opponents for 150.
