CRICKET: DELPH defeated holders Wrenthorpe in the Heavy Woollen Cup first round.
Faisal Butt took five for 24 as Grant Jones’ side dismissed the visitors for 118.
Delph tied up victory with eight wickets to spare, as Irfan Zahoor recorded 65 not out.
Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership action saw Delph debutant Adnan Ghaus claim seven for 58 as they bowled out hosts Barkisland for 144.
Bruce Cruse made 63 for the away side, who reached their target with seven wickets in hand.
Delph seconds lost to Slaithwaite by five wickets after making 149, and exited the Crowther Cup after a first round defeat at the hands of Wrenthorpe.
