TONGE defeated M and B of Cheslyn Hay, Wolverhampton, in a special bowls challenge match at Wharton Conservative Club in Cheshire.
Tonge, winners of the Manchester Premier League, were pitched against their Midlands Super League counterparts.
And they won 175-168 to confirm their status as one of Britain’s top teams.
Tonge had no game in the Premier League last week, but return to action tomorrow (7.30pm) with a home fixture against Lower Hopton.
ENTRIES continue to be accepted for this year’s Oldham Evening Chronicle Bowling Handicap.
Organisers have decided to scrap the previous limit of 64 players in anticipation of the competition’s popularity.
This year’s competition has heats at four venues on two nights, which means players will be vying for one finals-night place at each green.
Those venues will be Nimble Nook, Crompton, Delph and Royton on Fridays June 3 and June 10.
Entrants will be drawn at the various venues and will pick their own number from the hat on the night.
The finals will be held at North Chadderton Social and Bowling Club on Saturday, July 9, when, for the first time, a dress code will be enforced.
Entry fee remains £5. Secure a place by sending the fee with details of your name, address, daytime phone number, club, teams (if any) and choice of playing date to Bob Nisbet, 22 Severn Road, Hollinwood, Oldham OL8 3RQ.
