Knagg bags brace as Rifle find their range

AMATEUR FOOTBALL: RIFLE Range Royle Blues will face High Crompton CC in the D & J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League Challenge Cup final at Boundary Park.

Rifle Range RB, of David Giblin Division One, pipped Jack Abbott Premier Division outfit Chaddy End

4-3 through two goals from Daniel Knagg, which complimented Andrew Oakes’ effort and an own goal.

On the mark for Chaddy End were Lee Deacon, Danny Caldecott and Tom Keegan.

Top-flight team High Crompton beat Rifle Range Reds 2-1 in their semi-final, courtesy of Scott Rowbottom and Nick Campbell strikes.

The final at Boundary Park is a dream-come-true for Campbell, who is a lifelong Athletic fan.

It takes place on Wednesday, May 11 (7pm kick-off).


Top-flight league action saw Red Star close in on a top-three finish after an impressive 4-1 win at FC Broadgate. Ryan Hobin was at the double for the in-form visitors, for whom Carl Beamish and Mark Buckley also netted.

Rick Street notched Broadgate’s solitary strike.


Mark Terris, Steve Ross, Mark Roberts and Anthony Horrocks were on target as in-form FC Carsons thumped Khartoum Northern 4-1. Alex Caveney was on target for Khartoum.

 


A Paul Badby brace bagged Fitton Hill Rangers a 2-1 triumph over Oddies, for whom Dean Williams replied. 


Elsewhere, it was party time for Limeside Athletic ‘A’.
They gained promotion from Division One thanks to a comprehensive 6-2 home win against Weavers Arms.

Wayne Ware produced a hat-trick for Limeside, who can look forward to top-flight action next season.

David Shaw pounced twice and Warren Berry also got in on the act.
