Hollinwood duo step in to make up the numbers

RUGBY LEAGUE: HOLLINWOOD coaching duo Lee Bayliss and Alan Dalton saved the day by stepping into a depleted side, but couldn't prevent a 38-22 loss at Halifax-based Whitehall Warriors in Division Five.
The home side took advantage of Hollinwood's early disorganisation to run home five tries before Andy Gorey pulled one back, also converting for a 28-6 half-time deficit.
Peter Davies then sprinted half the length of the field to score, Gorey adding the conversion.
Whitehall added a converted score before a Paddy Jennings try made it 28-16.
Jennings was on hand to run home another and also convert it — Gorey was off the field with a head injury — before the tiredness of having no replacements kicked in for 'Wood, leaving Whitehall able to take the points.
Gorey was man-of-the-match for the visitors, closely followed by Pete Davies and John Byram, while Phil Baxter had his best game for the club, running himself to a standstill.
