FOOTBALL: FAILSWORTH Dynamos are one victory away from winning the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division.
A 3-1 win at Howe Bridge Mill took them to within two points of leaders Bury GSOB, with one game in hand — the last match of the season.
If they earn maximum points at home to Little Lever tomorrow, Dynamos will be crowned champions.
Boss Wayne Kennedy said: “It should be a great game, and it brings a strange twist of fate.
“In the last game of the previous season, Little Lever needed three points to take the title — and they got them, when they beat us!
“We are looking forward to it but we know it will be a tough test.”
Defender Jonny Gordon and midfield man Daniel Derbyshire miss out with ankle injuries.
Chaddertonians finished the season in sixth position after a 2-1 reverse at Rochdale St Clements.
Santos smash home seven
SANTOS are still chasing promotion from the Lancashire and Cheshire League Division Two after a pulsating 7-4 win over VIP.
It was not the best start as far as the hosts were concerned as they conceded an early goal, but Matt Fitton put them back on level terms.
VIP regained the lead when Santos switched off at the back, only for Levi Morris and Adam McKinny to turn the game on its head by putting the home team in front.
First Morris smashed the ball home, and then McKinny headed in.
Steve Cass gave Santos a two-goal cushion with a well-worked goal after the restart.
VIP pulled one back but Cass produced a stunning long-range drive which the goalkeeper saved but then dropped into the net.
Jonny Phillips notched two late goals for Santos prior to a late consolation from the visitors.
With four games remaining, three victories will ensure promotion for Santos.
