Saints earn high praise

RUGBY:
AS happy as Warrington Wolves coaches were with their coaching session at Oldham St Anne’s, they were equally relieved to get through the day without anyone dropping the Carnegie Challenge Cup.
Wolves paid two visits to Higginshaw Road to pass on their wisdom to under-nines through to under-15s from the hosts and Saddleworth Rangers.
And they brought their coveted silverware, which they defend on Sunday against Keighley Cougars at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Kieron Brown, who lives in Oldham and scouts for the Warrington outfit, arranged the visit to his home town.
He said: “My heart was in my mouth a few times when the youngsters attempted to pick up the cup!
“Joking aside, the coaches told me afterwards that the Saints players are some of the most polite and receptive people they have come across.
“They also have genuine talent. We started off by working with a tennis ball for hand-eye co-ordination, before moving on to the rugby work. They all did very well.”
As for Sunday’s fourth-round clash with Keighley, Brown is making no predictions.
“I always guess the wrong scoreline, but hopefully we can get through,” he added.
