BOWLS:
TIME is running out for bowlers planning to enter this year’s Oldham Evening Chronicle Bowling Handicap.
In anticipation of an improved entry, organisers have decided to scrap the previous limit of 64 players.
This year’s competition has heats at four venues on two nights, which means players will be vying for one finals-night place at each green.
Those venues will be Nimble Nook, Crompton, Delph and Royton on Fridays June 3 and June 10.
Entrants will be drawn at the various greens and will pick their own number from the hat.
The finals will be held at North Chadderton Social and Bowling Club on Saturday, July 9, when, for the first time, a dress code will be enforced.
The entry fee is £5. Secure a place by sending your name, address, daytime phone number, club and team affiliation and choice of date to Bob Nisbet, 22 Severn Road, Hollinwood, Oldham OL8 3RQ as soon as possible.

Tonge are away to Liverpool team Richmond next Wednesday (7.30pm).
HEATS continue in Norden BC’s Brennan Paving mixed pairs on Sunday (5.30pm) when Springbank’s Paul Heap is on the bill.
Entries are being accepted for the Thwaites men’s pairs and AC Ventilation women’s pairs at the same venue.
Qualifying rounds for both are on Sundays June 19 and 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, and August 7, with the finals on Sunday, August 14.
Entry for both events costs £10 and places can be secured by ringing Steve or Jean on (01706) 527219 or 07767 674699.
