Key duo to return for final

JOB WELL DONE . . . Heyside Angels under-18s ended their first season in the Cheshire and Manchester Womens’ League in sixth position after a 7-2 win over Frodsham. On the mark were Lily Prince and Holly Hespie with two goals each, Beth Mellor, Lucy Shaylor and Emma Harte. AMATEUR FOOTBALL:
ROYTON Town duo Wayne Dean and Mike Moss have recovered from injury in time for the club’s biggest game of the season.
Phil Haigh’s side take on Walshaw Sports in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Gilgryst Cup final at Hyde United on Monday (7.30pm kick-off).
Striker Dean (hamstring) and midfielder Moss (ankle) have shaken off their respective ailments and are set to start.
Royton are without star forward Alan Beckett due to work commitments, and defender Carl Dean (knee).
Haigh said: “Not everyone is available but we feel there is enough in the locker to win the cup.”
Heyside seal promotion
HEYSIDE secured promotion from the Huddersfield and District League Division Three after beating HV Academicals 4-0.
On target were James Leonard, Mark Rowbottom, Leon Perry and James Taylor.
Division One action saw Diggle beat Meltham Athletic 8-2, while Uppermill lost 3-2 at Shepley.
Santos hope
SANTOS need to win at Gorse Hall on the last day of the season.
And the need other results to go their way, to seal promotion following a 4-3 loss at Moorside Rangers in the Lancashire and Cheshire League Division Two.
Top-dogs hit Oddies for six
ROYTON FC regained top spot in the D & J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division,
following a 6-3 win at Oddies.
On the mark were Mark Greaves and Wayne Dean with two apiece, Craig Ginnever and David Dalton.
Chris Crothers was at the double for the hosts, for whom Dean Williams also netted.
Royton are one point clear of second-place Rifle Range Reds, but have played two games more than their title rivals.
Chaddy End dropped off the pace after being held to a 1-1 draw by Red Star.
Matthew Whittingham was on target for the home side, but Ryan Hobin replied for Red Star.
Darren Scanlon produced a hat-trick in Fitton Hill Rangers’ 5-2 defeat of FC Broadgate.
He was joined on the scoresheet by Daniel Hitches and Jon Akaly.
Joseph Crompton pounced twice for Broadgate.
Callum Franklin and Callum Standing netted for Khartoum Northern in their 2-1 triumph over
basement boys Failsworth Athletic, for whom Paul Maidment scored a consolation goal.
