ALL YOURS . . . Joan Swindells receives the Marie Hufton Salver from lady captain Joyce Bielby.
GOLF: JOAN Swindells completed a full set at WERNETH when landing the Marie Hufton Salver.
The club’s first major of the season, a two-ball Stableford, was the only Werneth major which Joan, a lifelong member, had not won.
But she put that right when collecting 39 points to edge out Lisa Hall, who won a card play-off to finish second.
BROOKDALE defeated Ashton-under-Lyne 5&2 in round two of the Bell Cup.
The results: Angela Sloan 7&6, Vicki Akin 2&1, Angie Hunter 1 up, Sue Whitaker 2 up, Barbara Olivier 9&7.
Meanwhile, Sue Boothby made it two wins in as many weeks with victory in a two-ball betterball odds and evens competition. She teamed up with Val Brogan to register 53 points, one clear of Sue Whittaker and Barbara Olivier.
THE Oldham team of Mary Buckley, Janet Kershaw, Sheila Antrobus and Jane Antrobus have qualified for the Interclub Handicap team finals at Darwen.
They booked their place, along with Rochdale, Manchester and Bolton Old, after impressing at Bolton Deane.
But Oldham were beaten 4&3 at Ashton in the Silver Handicap.
Mary Buckley 5&4, Karen Phanco 1 up and Chris Peirson 5&4 were the local winners on the day.
