Angling: ORGANISER Ian Walvin hit the ground running in the opening Diggle AC Tuesday evening match on Tanners Dam.

The Gilders rod claimed first place, with his 12-metre pole, pellet, meat and corn on the hook combination netting a two-carp and skimmer catch of 20lbs 6oz.

Mick Henshaw, the runner-up, gathered carp and skimmers on the pole at 13 metres, with meat and paste, to weigh in 9lbs 2oz.

Third-best Ian Cox (Stalybridge Angling) had 7lbs 2oz made up of gudgeon, skimmers, roach and perch enticed by maggot and caster on the pole.

PETER Jackson was an easy winner the JW Lewis Builders corporate day, which took place on the match lake at Border Fisheries.
Opting for corn, Jackson landed carp in the three-to-four pounds bracket to deny Matt Maddocks, who had an all carp catch of 52lbs on pellet.

Rick Ford, in third, used his method feeder and meat hookbait for 51lbs of carp.

LOWER weights in Saturday’s Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake were blamed on fish spawning.
The winner, Danny Haywood, returned an 8lbs 13oz bag made up of tench, skimmers and roach. He used pellet and maggot on the pole from peg 18.

Bob Harrison, in second place, drew his favourite peg 23, and he recorded 7lbs 1oz of skimmers, tench and the odd chub.

Billy Brierley’s peg four came alive to the tune of 6lbs 15oz of chub and roach, enticed by maggot on the pole and waggler.

Weights improved slightly for the Monday evening open match on the Park Lake.

Harrison went one better to clinch victory with 11lbs 15oz.

Again situated on peg 23, he caught a decent tench, together with the odd chub on maggot and pellet at 10 metres.

Organiser Darren Webb was second with a 9lbs 1oz net, which included a bream and some skimmers on the pellet at eight and 12 metres.

Brierley was again in third, with his 7lbs 6oz chub and skimmer net attracted by pellet.

DAVE Ireland won the Monarch AC match on the club water. Employing maggot and caster up in the water, he tempted 29lbs 7oz of crucians and carp.
Mick Diskin had to settle for second best, with his 18lbs 9oz catch made up of ide and skimmers, taken up in the water.

Chris Woodroop was third with 13lbs 2oz of carp and ide.
