GOLF: CROMPTON and Royton captain Gary Melling was left stunned when his side were beaten 6-2 at home by reigning ‘A’ Division champions Dukinfield.
Having won their opening East Division game away from home they proceeded to undo all that good work with three defeats.
Brookdale ‘A’ will have been pleased with their share of the spoils in a 4-4 draw at Fairfield which included some superb play from the impressive Pete Buckley, who fired in five birdies and an eagle on his way to a 2&1 success with partner Garry Smith.
And Brookdale now head both West Divisions as their ‘B’ team had an 8-0 win over new boys Tunshill.
Heads above the rest
CROMPTON and Royton’s charity competition raised £500 for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
The format was a mixed greensome and the winners were Tony and Ann Head of Saddleworth. See picture.
