Clinton aids bronze effort

NETBALL: AMY Clinton landed the crucial goals to give Oldham's under-14s a bronze medal in the national finals in Loughborough.
After losing to local rivals Tameside on the second day — the only defeat of the team's eight-game stint and one that put paid to chances of claiming the biggest prize — coaches Pam Hazleton and Jackie Reid managed to raise morale.
CFX were easily dispatched and that left Parkside up next in a game that gave Oldham the chance to finish third.
An end-to-end contest, it could have gone either way but for a pair of crucial interceptions in defence which allowed Oldham's player of the weekend, goal shooter Clinton, to claim the glory and lead her side to a 13-10 win.
