Corbally starts summer in style

Angling: THE first two rounds of the Cairo AC summer league, contested on Denshaw Vale, saw Matt Corbally take top spot on both occasions.
In the first meeting the Tight Lines rod won courtesy of a 12lb 2oz net taken on pole-fished maggot which comprised of tench, rudd, roach and skimmers.
Second-placed Matt Jewitt mustered a similar net, followed by Malc Taylor (Gilders) with a pole and pellet taken 10lb 7oz.
Fishing pole and red maggot, Corbally claimed first place in the second contest when he caught bream and skimmers weighing 14lb 4oz.
Taylor was second with 11lb 15oz of carp and tench, and in third, Jewitt finished with tench, carp and rudd, weighing in at 11lb 9oz.
DAVE Machin clinched victory in the Diggle AC match on Tanners Dam with two carp and bits weighing 10lb 2oz. Ian Cox followed with 8lb 8oz of roach, and Martin Taylor mustered 7lb 8oz made up of skimmers and bits.
KEITH Butterworth triumphed in Oldham Central AC’s match on Cudmore Fisheries canal, with 33lb 1oz of carp.
In second was Darren Jones (Tight Lines). He found 22lb 12oz of f1s and small tench, beating Malc Taylor (Gilders) into third. Taylor ended the contest with 16lb 13oz of tench and f1s.
MARK Eaton (Dykes) won the Cranberry AC’s match on Blundells Fisheries Oak Lane, after catching 23lb 4oz of carp, tench and silvers. Runner-up Jack Cubby took carp, tench and ide which totalled 14lb 12oz.
Steve Orr’s 11lb comprised of carp, tench and silvers.
Lawrence Kouras took the spoils at Fir Tree Fisheries with 15lb of small carp. Keith Adams was second thanks to skimmers and roach weighing 12lb.
Alan Steele took third position with 8lb.
FIRST place in the first Medlock Bridge AC open match on Park Lane went to Pete Cuniffe (Gilders).
His roach and skimmers weighed 17lb 3oz.
Billy Brierley took second spot with 16lb 1oz mainly made up of chub.
Third-placed Tony Simcock caught 13lb 4oz.
Ian Bolton won the second Medlock Bridge AC contest. His 6lb 10oz included a dozen chub.
Bob Harrison followed with 6lb 2oz of skimmers and a tench, with Brierley third on 5lb 5oz.
Venue guide
Huddersfield narrow canal – Odd big bream and chub to pellet.
Rochdale canal – Red maggot, caster and bread punch for skimmers and roach
Chadderton Mill lodge – Paste down the edge for carp and maggot or caster fished out and up in the water for plenty of ide.
Park Lake – A bit patchy due to fish spawning with some decent weights on pellet and maggot. Day tickets on the bank.
