Cassidy’s sights on ‘big weekend’

CRICKET: WOODHOUSES begin their defence of the Walkden Cup on Sunday when they go to Glossop — the only team to have beaten them this season.
Defeat against the Derbyshire side was the only blip in a flying start to the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One campaign, which has taken Mike Cassidy’s men to the top of the table.
It promises to be a tight encounter on Sunday, but before that Woodhouses are in league action. They travel to Denton tomorrow looking to stay at the summit.
Cassidy said: “This is a big weekend for the club. Denton is a tough place to go to because it is always a difficult wicket, but we are in good league form and hopefully we can come away with maximum points.
“As for the Walkden Cup, winning it again is one of our top priorities this season.”
